Spend a weekend in the High Peaks of the Adirondack mountains. We’ll spend two nights in one of the ADK “camps” a few miles from the trail head and on Saturday day hike up one of the surrounding High Peaks.
September 3-11, 2026

On this trip we hike the Alta Via 1, a 120 km long-distance hiking trail that traverses the heart of the Dolomites. The trail takes hikers on a grand tour of this mountain range, following its spine from North to South. We spend 7 days on the trail, winding our way through rugged peaks, verdant meadows, and deep valleys. Cost is approximate and includes flights, meals, lodging, tips, etc.

Torrent Ducks
Why Torrent Ducks? It was our trail name on a fantastic hike. These ducks, found in the Andes, feed by diving in churning water and pools and are somehow able to swim up-current with no apparent exertion.
